As can be seen from the pictures the Piling has begun under bright blue skies. However the contractor is confident that as soon as they start excavating the basement there will be a deluge of biblical proportions.

You have got to love an optimist!

 

The scheme, which includes 12 apartments, 6 houses and over 4000 sq ft of retail space, has ‘green’ woven through to it’s heart. The apartments are enclosed by a three storey living wall, a ‘vertical garden’ that is automatically watered from the rainwater capture system, the car park ventilation is driven by thermal currents induced through the building and the Roof top solar panels also form an integral part of the form of the building.

 

The house includes a subterranean swimming pool and leisure suite that extends out under the garden.

The house is due to start on site in the New Year.

On the 4th November 09 SW Foulkes Architects were the guests of Ibstock at the Brick Development Association’s National Brick Awards 2009 in Grosvenor Square, London.

SW Foulkes Architects were nominated for two awards for Eversley, at Bowdon near Manchester, our recently completed apartment development for Strand Properties.

Steve dusted off his black tie and attended the event with Dr Mazen Charbak from Strand. They were entertained by Micheal Portillo, and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, we were not lucky enough to win this year….but there is always next year….

Ben and Elliot provided the television company with some visuals of the development so presenter Kirstie Allsopp could explain to the prospective purchaser what they could be looking at when they left the house.

Ironically one of the other properties they were filming for the same programme was a house on a recently completed development that SW FOULKES Architects had actually designed for prestigious northwest developer, Hillcrest Homes.
