Vertical garden

Posted: May 1, 2010

SW FOULKES Architects have gained full planning permission for the redevelopment of the former Ladybarn Public House, in Withington, Manchester.

The scheme, which includes 12 apartments, 6 houses and over 4000 sq ft of retail space, has ‘green’ woven through to it’s heart. The apartments are enclosed by a three storey living wall, a ‘vertical garden’ that is automatically watered from the rainwater capture system, the car park ventilation is driven by thermal currents induced through the building and the Roof top solar panels also form an integral part of the form of the building.
